Tracking Podcast Attribution in LeadsRx

In LeadsRx, you can track when an ad is served in a podcast or when a podcast is downloaded. This article will describe setting up podcast attribution in LeadsRx.

The first question to answer is on which podcasting platform your podcasts will play. Each platform has it's own macros which you will need to use to set up the tracking.

Setting up a Podcast Touchpoint

The first step to measuring podcast attribution is to create a podcast touchpoint in LeadsRx. Here are the steps to follow to do this:

  1. Hover over the gear icon at the top of any page and select SETTINGS.
  2. Click TRACK A NEW TOUCHPOINT and select the PODCAST option.
  3. Give the touchpoint a name and an optional description. Tip: Put Podcast in the name to make it easy to identify.
  4. Type in the dimensions you'd like to track for the podcast. You can specify up to 5 custom dimensions to track for each podcast. These dimensions are up to you but could include things like the name of the creative.
  5. Click SAVE.

1x1 Pixel Tracking and Redirect URL tracking

You can track either a 1 x 1 pixel or a redirect URL for your podcast. 1 x 1 pixel tracking would track dynamically inserted ads in the podcast. A redirect URL would track whether the podcast was downloaded. Here's how to set up both. Which you need is dictated by the podcast provider you are using.

  1. Find the touchpoint in the list of touchpoints and select MANAGE, then EDIT.
  2. Review the dimensions you specified and add more if you would like to.
  3. Click ADD A NEW VARIATION to create a trackable variation of the podcast based on your dimensions.
  4. Select MANAGE, then TRACKING OPTIONS.
  5. Select your player from the VIEW MACRO BY SERVICE pull-down list.
  6. Select the 1x1 pixel code for your player or Redirect URL code. 1x1 pixel will measure if the ad plays when dynamically served. Redirect URL is used when measuring whether the podcast is downloaded.
  7. Give that code(s) to your podcast company to include with your ad.
