National TV Spot Uploads
This article applies only to accounts using the full funnel LeadsRx Attribution product to capture data about multiple marketing channels.
If you run ads on TV, you know that applying attribution can be complex. Are the ads local? Do they run nationally across the United States? If they are national, are they live (like on a sporting event), on cable sites, old-school broadcast television, dual-feed television, or some combination of these? Each is handled differently.
LeadsRx has studied these different broadcast methods and we are excited to offer a solution specific to national campaigns.
First, make sure to use our National TV sample file, as there is a new column to specify the "feed". You will also notice that there is no column for touchpoint name. These will be taken care of automatically. More on that later.
The Feed options are:
- LIVE (used also for standard cable)
- BROADCAST
- DUAL (for dual cable)
- MAP (when you don't know we attempt to map based on the Station/Network name)
If no feed information is provided, or if the word "map" is inserted for the feed type, LeadsRx will attempt to map by Station/Network if we have it already in our system. This will not be available for all stations/networks, so if you know the feed for each, there's an advantage to listing it.
For details on how Nielsen describes these different modes of TV, check out their Feed Pattern Guide. Page 3 shows a table that you may find helpful.
Live Television (such as Sporting Events)
For live television, like a sporting event, you may specify "Live" in the feed column of your spreadsheet. This is also the designation for standard cable television like CNN. LeadsRx will use the moment in time that a spot plays, e.g., 8:01pm Eastern, and convert that moment in time to reflect when a visitor would have heard it live, e.g., 5:01pm Pacific.
Cable Television
Cable television, like CNN, will also use the "Live" feed designation. Again, the time information uploaded will be translated into when a visitor will have heard it, e.g. 8:01pm Eastern is 5:01pm Pacific.
Dual Feed Cable Television
Dual feed cable is unique in that the time that a spot airs is not live across all time zones, nor is the time the same relative to each time zone. LeadsRx has created a feed time that takes all the ins and outs of dual feed cable into consideration to get you the most accurate possible attribution. The feed value for these spots should be "Dual".
Traditional Broadcast Television
Some shows still air on standard broadcast television. For these, use the feed value of "Broadcast", and we will make the adjustments for you so that 8:01pm Eastern is 7:01pm Mountain and 8:01pm Pacific.
Uploading National Spots
Manual Uploads
- First, make sure your CSV upload file is in the correct format for National TV spots. Please download the sample file if you don't already have it.

- Select SETTINGS (or View All from the pop-out menu)
- Navigate to NATIONAL TV SPOT UPLOAD section and BROWSE for your formatted CSV file.
- Now map the columns of from your file to what you want in LeadsRx. For National TV spots, there is no need to include a Touchpoint column.
- Make sure that your Station/Network column is mapped to Dimension 1 in LeadsRx.
Automatic Touchpoints for National TV
Once you upload the file, if needed, LeadsRx will create up to 8 touchpoints representing the time zones of the United States. The names will appear as TV-PTZ (Pacific Time Zone), etc. You may edit the names if you wish after they have been created.
API Spot Uploads
National TV spots can now also be uploaded directly to LeadsRx using our open API. To see documentation on using the API for spot uploads, including national TV, please check out our LeadsRx Developers page.
Please Note:
- LeadsRx will automatically geofence the website visits by timezone. This is the only time that LeadsRx automatically geo-fences touchpoints for you.
