Setting up a CallRail Integration

The CallRail integration allows you to associate conversions with in-bound phone calls forwarded by CallRail.  Specific tracking numbers or all numbers can be used to trigger a conversion in LeadsRx.

Follow these steps to configure CallRail with LeadsRx:

  1. Obtain CallRail API key
    • Login to CallRail and navigate to your profile.
    • Click "API Keys" under the security section on the left hand side of the page.
    • Click the "Create New API V3 Key" button in the upper right hand side of the page.
    • Copy the API Key.
  2. Enter CallRail API key in LeadsRx
    • Click "Enter API Key" on the right side of the CallRail integration page.
    • Paste your CallRail API Key into into the input box.
    • Don't forget to SAVE.
  3. Configure Account & Company
    • Select the account and company you want to configure with LeadsRx from the select boxes that appear.
  4. Create a CallRail Conversion
    • Click the link in the integration to create a new CallRail conversion.

Editing the CallRail conversion once created

Once the conversion is created, find the conversion in the list of conversions and click MANAGE -> EDIT.

Enter the tracking numbers that should trigger this conversion, followed by a comma. All numbers must start with a country code, for example:

  • +1 for the United States
  • +44 for the United Kingdom
  • +52 for Mexico

Leave the tracking number field blank to accept any inbound phone calls to any tracking number for this conversion.

Static vs. Dynamic Tracking Numbers

For static numbers (TV, radio, Google My Business): A manual touchpoint must be created that represents the campaign that is associated with each number. Once created, enter the touchpoint in the settings for the conversion, where it says "For static numbers, optionally specify a touchpoint to attribute for this conversion", otherwise all static numbers will be treated as a direct visit.

For dynamic numbers: CallRail will only pass the "initial source" that came with the call which is first touch attribution. There are 2 options on how to handle this:

  1. Use the default of having CallRail pass the initial source of the call.
  2. Use the “do not attribute to a touchpoint” option using the same dropdown as above. This will use the touchpoint source(s) that LeadsRx picks up via the Universal Tracking Pixel and will be independent of CallRail’s attribution. This is recommended to view the most recent source prior to a phone call conversion event.

Geofencing Broadcast Data & CallRail

If you are analyzing broadcast data (TV or Radio) in LeadsRx, please contact support-leadsrx@unbounce.com as this may affect CallRail attribution.
