Creating an LRX Tracking Parameter for a Custom Touchpoint

LeadsRx makes your initial account creation easy. Once our LeadsRx Universal Pixel is placed on all the pages of your site, our product immediately begins monitoring incoming traffic. During the onboarding process, our team helps you decide how best to define that incoming traffic. Then each time a new kind of traffic is found, a touchpoint is created automatically.

If you already use UTM parameters, we will use your "utm_source=" value to create touchpoints.

There are situations where you will want to add a different layer of detail beyond the utm_source. In these cases, you may create an LRX Parameter (our custom parameter) to over-ride the utm_source and provide additional detail.

Example:

Let's say that you advertise on Facebook and use a utm_source=facebook parameter. LeadsRx will automatically create a touchpoint for you called "facebook (utm)". However, you have both Facebook Remarketing ads and Facebook Prospecting ads that share this utm_source. You might want to stop using utm_source for Facebook within LeadsRx and instead split these out, but you don't want to change your existing utm_source.

You could create two touchpoints using LRX parameters. Call the first "Facebook Remarketing". During the touchpoint creation process, you will be provided an alphanumeric "lrx=" value such as lrx=abcd1234. You would append lrx=abcd1234 to the clickthrough URLs of your remarketing campaigns in Facebook. Then you would do the same for Facebook Prospecting.

When LeadsRx picks up traffic to your site that includes either of these LRX parameters, we will ignore the utm_source of "facebook" and instead assign these visitors to your new touchpoints. This method can also be used to make a distinction between branded and non-branded search campaigns.

Create a Touchpoint using a LRX Parameter

  1. Using the drop-down menu under your account name at the top of any page, select SETTINGS.
  2. In the touchpoints block, select MANAGE.
  3. Click the "Track a New Touchpoint" button.
  4. A popup will appear showing the various types of touchpoints that are available. Select "LRX= LeadsRx Tracking Parameter".
  5. Name your touchpoint and give it an optional description, such as the date you transitioned to using this new touchpoint.
  6. Copy the alphanumeric value that begins with "lrx=". This is your new parameter.
  7. For Display ads that will appear on a network that allows third-party impression pixels, you can toggle on the Impression Pixel box to generate an impression pixel to traffic with your ad.
  8. Please ignore the "Custom Touchpoint Weighting" section. This is used very rarely.
  9. Click SAVE at the bottom right when you are done.

Apply this lrx= value to all the advertising that should be included as this touchpoint going forward. There is no need to change any of your existing tracking parameters. An LRX parameter will outweigh any others.

Note:  Our Facebook, Google Ads, and other cost integrations match one or more campaigns in those platforms to individual touchpoints in LeadsRx. When using LRX parameters, make sure that all the ads in a single campaign can be applied to ONE touchpoint.

Using the previous example, all of your remarketing ads need to be in a separate campaign from all your prospecting ads.
